I would like to tell you about one of my favorite seasons. The monsoon is a great time to have fun indoors and outdoors as rain is a powerful symbol of peace, calmness, freshness and joy. Here’s how I spent one such day.

It was somewhere in June, when the education department told us that there will be a holiday due to heavy rain. I was ecstatic! The next day, after waking up late, I ate my breakfast, then went out to play. After sometime it started raining, so I quickly went back to my house. By the time I reached home I was soaked from head to toe. So I change my clothes, and squeezed and hung out the wet ones. Then I took a book, and sat on the window sill. I read a few pages, before I stopped to listen to the sound of the pitter- patter of the rain and the calls of animals. Afterwards, I went to play with my brother. First we played carrom, and then snakes and ladders. During the game the rain stopped, but since it was almost lunchtime, we continued to play indoors, and played a game of chess. While I won the other games, when it came to chess, my brother beat me hands down. My consolation, was that my mother’s food was tasty. As the weather was cold it made me sleepy, so I dosed off. After a while, I got up with the sound of the rain, and went to have a hot cup of tea. Then I went out to play outside and enjoyed jumping in the puddles.

I ended the day by talking to my friends, drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and watching TV. Ahh……sheer bliss!!!

One day, I got ready for school. Like most days, it was raining. When I stepped out of my building, it started raining very heavily. I quickly ran to the school bus.

When I got in the bus, I was so happy to find a Window seat today. The bus started and my excitement stopped, as it started dripping from the roof of the bus – tap, tap, tap! So, I couldn’t sit there. I had to change my seat.

I got off the bus, it started raining again! I ran to class and almost slipped. By the time I reached, I was a little wet but wiped myself dry.

Later, during school time, the rain stopped. It became sunny and bright. I felt happy again! But when school got over and we were going back home—it started raining heavily again! I got off the school bus…My shoes were wet, and there were puddles everywhere.

In the evening, we went to the Supermarket. Just as we were coming out—it started raining heavily again. This time, it was also very windy! My umbrella was flying but I held on tight. I ran to the car, laughing and getting all wet. It felt like a rainstorm adventure.

Even though I got wet, it was fun. The cool wind and rain made me laugh. It was a messy, funny and a happy day.

Rainy days can be full of surprises!

The rain poured down with high pressure, and I was getting ready for school. But before I could step out, a loud bang shook the house. A tree in our front yard had been struck by lightning! As we turned to go inside, my mother smiled and said, “School’s closed today due to the heavy rain!” I couldn’t believe my luck.

I changed into cozy clothes and settled down with a book about a girl’s adventures through the seasons. As I read about the rainy season, I got inspired. I made paper boats and sent them floating in the rainwater on our balcony. “Whoosh! My ships are sailing away!” I exclaimed. I felt like a captain commanding a fleet of ships.

I called up my friends, and we chatted for half an hour, laughing and sharing stories. After the call, my mother offered me some fresh fruit. I took a nap, relaxed by the soothing sound of raindrops. Later, I had biscuits and tea, and spent some quality time playing chess with my brother.

The rain had turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure. I realized that sometimes the best days are the ones we don’t plan, and the rain had been the perfect spark for a fun-filled and relaxing day. As I looked out at the rain-soaked world, I felt grateful for the unexpected turn of events. The rain had brought out the kid in me, and I had revealed the simple joys of life.

On the 25th of June in the evening, me and my brother were watching television. Suddenly the screen showed a notice saying : ‘ Signal Not Avaliable’. It was cloudy outside. I thought that it wouldn’t rain heavily, looking at the sky, because it wasn’t that windy and cloudy. It was just a bit. But how wrong was I! That day it rained, like it had never rained before. It was raining like cats and dogs. My grandmother thought that this was the best day to prepare ‘Potato Chops’. Traditionally known as ‘ Kapa-n’ in Goa. Also known as ‘Pakodas’ in Hindi. So, coming back to the rainy day, it was amazing. So after eating my grandmother’s delicious Potato Chops, I and my brother made paper boats and had a competition named: Paper Boat Racing Competition. Unfortunately my paper boat got drowned and was nowhere to be seen. And my brother won the competition. We as well as the birds and animals started jumping with joy. My dog was so excited that he started barking so loudly, that people may have thought that a robber had entered our house in the day and would have come to our house, if not for my mother who made him quiet by giving him a treat. As it rained, the plants in the corners which had never ever experienced rain that way since they were in the corners. New saplings who had never experienced rain before, started joyfully swaying, as if trying to say, ” We are happy, we are very very happy. So this way, the rain started decreasing and by 7:00 at night, it stopped raining completely. Even though it had rained for such a short time, from 5:00 in the evening to 7: 00 at night, it looked as if the whole scenery had changed. At first,I thought I had reached a new, very beautiful place. It took me sometime to understand that I was in my own house property, standing and admiring the beauty of nature. It wasn’t too dark to see and admire. This was truly supposed to be called a real, amazing, fantastic ‘One Rainy Day’ for me and my family! Happy Monsoon!
