Cracker Chestnut – Where Curiosity Meets Conservation

Woof! Meet Chestnut, the tail-wagging detective with a sniff for mysteries and a bark for justice. Each month in goUNMUTE, he will sniff, paw and wag his way through eco-puzzles — from chirps gone missing to rivers in trouble — proving every pawprint can protect nature.

Episode 1: The Case of the Vanishing Sparrows Chestnut loved his busy city lane— the honking autos, the laughter of schoolchildren, the smell of hot samosas at the tea stall. But one morning, his ears twitched. Something was missing. No cheerful chirp-chirp. The sparrows were gone. “Where are they?” Meera sighed, pointing to empty wires. “They used to sit on our window every day.” Chestnut sniffed for clues. At the market, he found an abandoned nest. On the wires, only pigeons crowded. At  the tea shop, he pawed at the new shiny glass door. The shopkeeper grinned. “Keeps the dust out! I keep it shut all day.” Chestnut wagged his tail knowingly. No open windows…no homes for sparrows.

Next morning, he dragged a clay pot into the schoolyard. The children laughed until Jasmine cried out, “He wants to make homes for sparrows!” Soon, they painted pots, hung them from trees, and fixed wooden bird boxes on balconies. A week later — chirp-chirpchirp! The sparrows fluttered back. “Chestnut cracked the case again!” the children cheered. Chestnut wagged proudly. And this time, everyone learned a lesson: if we all keep pots, bird boxes, and little hut-like homes, sparrows will always return. Every eco-puzzle has a paws-ible answer.
